This past weekend, my mother and step-dad were getting ready to go into town for a day long adventure. My step-father is usually always running late and I know this sometimes aggravates my mother.
This day, however, his tardiness saved their home.
Excerpt from my mom's Facebook post on Saturday after the incident:
Sitting here this beautiful morning giving tanks to our Lord. He is an awesome God.
This morning as we were getting ready to go into town. I was sitting on the couch while Tony was in the shower. I heard a big pop, then several more, then I saw smoke. When I went outside to check it out I saw our powers breaker on fire. I called Tony to come out and turn on the water hose and dialed 911.
Tony ran out of the shower and put the fire out, but the fire department and sheriff still came out. The electric company had to come out also to change the transformer. The electricity will be off till we get a new box.
Thank goodness we were home or we would have come home to no home at all. The house would have burned down.
Lord thank you for taking care of us.
This made me think of all the inconveniences in my life - heavy traffic when I am running late, the slow line at the grocery store, forgetting to set my alarm clock, the slow internet speed. I could go on and on. How many times did God intervene, allowing these small inconveniences in my life in order to save my life?
I will try to remember this the next time I am confronted with an inconvenience.
